Youth of the Year

Baton Rouge Club Member Named Louisiana Youth of the Year

Adrian Augustus, a five-year member of Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Baton Rouge, has been named the 2011 Youth of the Year for the state of Louisiana by Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA). He is among many Youth of the Year winners across the country recognized by BGCA for his sound character, leadership skills and willingness to give back to the Baton Rouge community.

The 2011 National Youth of the Year program is generously sponsored by
Tupperware Brands Corporation . Their generous sponsorship provides scholarship dollars for many deserving young people so that they may pursue a postsecondary degree.    Being named Youth of the Year is the highest honor a Boys & Girls Club member can receive. The title recognizes outstanding contributions to a member’s family, school, community and Boys & Girls Club, as well as personal challenges and obstacles overcome.

Adrian recently graduated from Belaire High School where he was heavily involved in extracurricular activities including his church, the Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council and Junior ROTC where he served as the battalion commander. He has bee accepted into LSU and plans to major in engineering.

This summer, Adrian competed with other youth from states located in BGCA’s Southeast Region.  Unfortunately, he did not bring the title home, but he represented Louisiana well and made Baton Rouge proud!
