Boys & Girls Clubs believe every child has the potential to BE GREAT. In support of this strong conviction, the Club strives to build caring, responsible citizens. The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Baton Rouge family—a community of staff, volunteers, parents, youth and supporters—works to create a positive place, full of hope and opportunity, for every child. While encouraging our three outcomes of Academic Success, Citizenship & Character, and Healthy Lifestyles in all programming, our afterschool and summer programs focus on five core program areas: Arts, Education, Leadership, Life Skills and Sports, Fitness & Recreation.

Clubs provide a safe place for thousands of Baton Rouge area children after school and during the summer. After-school time is the most critical time in a child's life. During the school year, members average 2.8 hours a day in their Club after school. In the summer, members spend nearly 6.3 hours per day at their Club.

Our Clubs serve more than 1,800 members in the Baton Rouge area each year. Of this number, more than 1,100 members visit Club facilities on a regular basis, often staying for more than three or four hours per visit. Here is a snapshot of our "full-service" members:

52% Male
48% Female
96% African American
1% Caucasian
1% Asian
2% Multi-Racial/Other
93% of our members are eligible for free or reduced school lunch.
